Karun Nair Hits 4th Consecutive Century in Vijay Hazare Trophy, Leads Vidarbha to a Big Win

Karun Nair Hits 4th Consecutive Century in Vijay Hazare Trophy, Leads Vidarbha to a Big WinOn Sunday, At the Motibaug Cricket Ground in Vadodara, during the quarter-final against Rajasthan, Karun Nair the skipper for Vidarbha, scored his fourth century in this round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. By scoring this century he joined the exclusive club as only the third player from India and the fifth worldwide to hit four back-to-back hundreds in List A cricket games.

Chasing a tough target of 292 runs, Nair walked in at number three after Yash Rathod and Dhruv Shorey put up a solid 92-run opening stand. Nair took control of the innings, supporting Shorey, who also scored a century off 114 balls. Nair reached his hundred in just 77 balls, by hitting 11 fours and three sixes. After reaching his century, he scored 24 runs in just five balls against Khaleel Ahmed, including three boundaries and two sixes. Vidarbha comfortably won the match by nine wickets in just 43.3 overs.

Karun Nair Shines with Fourth Consecutive Century

Nair began the tournament with a brilliant century against J&K. He secured some big scores including 112, 111, 163, and 44 when playing against teams such as Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, and Chhattisgarh. By acing all their Group D games, Vidarbha secured their place in the knockouts with a dominant performance.

During the league matches, Nair even managed to break a world record in List A cricket by scoring the highest runs without getting out. His contribution has been crucial for the team, marking an outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

After Devdutt Padikkal in the 2020-21 season and Narayan Jagadeesan, Nair is the third cricketer from India to hit four centuries in a row in List A cricket. Before him, only Narayan Jagadeesan from Tamil Nadu managed to hit five centuries in one Vijay Hazare Trophy season, making Nair the second person to do that. Around the world, Kumar Sangakkara and Alviro Petersen are the only two players who've also made four hundreds in a row in List A games outside of India.
