Asia Cup 2025 Points Table: Bangladesh Beat Hong Kong | BAN vs HK | Points Table & NRR

Asia Cup 2025 Points TableBangladesh captain Litton Das led from the front with a solid 59-run knock, guiding his team to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Hong Kong in their Asia Cup opener at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Thursday. This win was also special as it was Bangladesh’s first-ever T20I victory against Hong Kong.

Chasing 144, Bangladesh’s openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan found it tough to settle early, facing some tight bowling. Emon was out LBW, and soon after, Tanzid also walked back, leaving the team at 47 for two. At that stage, Hong Kong seemed to be in with a real chance of creating pressure on the hosts.

Litton Das and Tawhid Hridoy took control after the early wickets and kept Bangladesh moving in the chase. They rotated the strike well running smart singles and putting away the loose balls. Despite Hridoy’s intent, his strokes lacked clean timing, in contrast to Litton’s confident gap-finding play.

Litton’s 59 from 39 balls was full of smart shots, neat drives and clever placements that kept the Hong Kong bowlers under pressure. The boundaries slowed down during the middle overs, but once Hong Kong’s energy dipped, Litton shifted gears and brought up his fifty in just 33 balls. In the end, Hridoy finished the job, helping Bangladesh cross the target with 16 balls still left.

Hong Kong’s bowlers had their moments, with Ateeq Iqbal leading the way by taking two wickets and keeping things tight. Ayush Shukla added one more, while Aizaz Khan bowled a steady spell. Their fielding showed energy too, with some sharp stops, but a few misfields and missed chances hurt them. With not enough runs to defend, Bangladesh stayed in control and the calm batting from the middle order made sure the chase was never in doubt.

Earlier, Bangladesh started strong after choosing to bowl first. Taskin Ahmed struck early, removing Anshuman Rath for just four, and Babar Hayat also fell cheaply, leaving Hong Kong under pressure at 34 for two after the powerplay. Nizakat Khan and Zeeshan Ali tried to rebuild with a patient stand of 41 runs, but once Tanzim Hasan Sakib dismissed Zeeshan for 30, the momentum slipped again.

Hong Kong captain Yasim Murtaza gave his team some spark at number five, scoring a quick 28 from 19 balls before being run out in the 18th over. Nizakat Khan was steady with 42 off 40, but the innings lost pace in the final overs and Hong Kong ended at 143 for seven. For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib stood out with 2 for 21, while Taskin Ahmed (2/38) and Rishad Hossain (2/31) also chipped in with two wickets each.
