Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Controversy: BCCI Refuses ACC President’s Offer

Asia Cup 2025 trophy controversyThe fight over the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 trophy is continuing. As per media reports on Wednesday that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi’s offer to hand over the trophy. A BCCI source told a news website that the board will not accept the trophy from Naqvi and plans to raise the matter with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in its next meeting.

“We will not accept his response about handing over the trophy,” the source said.

This came a day after Naqvi reportedly suggested holding a ceremony in the first week of November to give the Asia Cup 2025 trophy to India, who won the title last month. For those who don’t know, the trophy issue started when the Indian men’s cricket team decided not to collect their winners’ medals and the trophy after winning the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 29.

The closing ceremony, which began after a one-hour delay, saw India’s Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Tilak Varma receive individual awards for their performances, while Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha got the runners-up prize money. Later, Kuldeep Yadav received the award for being the tournament’s highest wicket-taker, and India’s opener Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Tournament for scoring 314 runs in seven innings, averaging 44.85.

However, the ceremony ended without the Indian team receiving the winner’s trophy. Presenter Simon Doull said, “I have been informed by the ACC that the Indian cricket team will not be collecting their awards tonight. So that does conclude the post-match presentation.”
