Yastika Bhatia Ruled Out of Women’s World Cup 2025; Uma Chetry Replaces Her

Yastika Bhatia Ruled Out of Women’s World Cup 2025; Uma Chetry Replaces HerIndia Women have named Assam batter Uma Chetry as a replacement for Yastika Bhatia for the upcoming ODI series against Australia and the home World Cup. Bhatia injured her left knee during India’s training camp in Vizag and is now being looked after by the BCCI medical team. The board has wished her a quick recovery.

Chetry’s selection once again leaves Shafali Verma out of India’s ODI squad. Although Shafali recently returned to international cricket in the T20I series against England, she has not been included in the 50-over team. Her last ODI was in October last year against New Zealand at home.

At 23, Uma Chetry plays for Assam in domestic cricket and made her India debut in the T20I series against South Africa in Chennai. She has played seven T20Is so far scoring 37 runs at an average of 9.25 and has also appeared in nine WPL matches for UP Warriorz.

“Uma Chetry, who is now a part of the India squad for the Australia series and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, will no longer be a part of the India A squad, which is scheduled to take part in a warm-up match in the World Cup,” the Body added.

India will face Australia in a three-match ODI series on September 14, 17 and 20. Their Women’s World Cup campaign kicks off on September 30 against Sri Lanka followed by a high-profile match against Pakistan on October 5 at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. India have reached the Women’s World Cup final twice, in 2005 and 2017, but ended as runners-up on both occasions losing to Australia and England respectively.
