5 Players UP Warriorz Must Target in the WPL 2026 Mega Auction

The UP Warriorz (UPW) are decided for a fresh start in the WPL 2026 season. The team finished 4th position in 2024 and 5th position in 2025, and has opted to completely change the team in the WPL 2026. The only player retained has been up and coming young player Shweta Sehrawat, who has still not made her international debut, and the team will head into the mega auction with a substantial purse of ₹14.50 crore.

In this new beginning WPL 2026, UPW will be looking to construct a strong batting order, especially since each team was only allowed to retain five players, meaning there will be many high-profile players to select at the mega auction. One of UP's main focuses could be on Phoebe Litchfield, with her graceful stroke play as an Australian batter. Despite not having a great WPL season the year before, she remains one of the leading young batters in women’s cricket worldwide, and has a wide variety of shots to utilize around the ground.

Laura Wolvaardt from South Africa may also be an important consideration. With her World Cup performances being some of the highlights, she has proven she can handle spin and pace and be dependable as an opener, which may not always be seen in other T20 players, every league. She also brings experience with captaincy.

Yastika Bhatia Wicketkeeper

Yastika Bhatia and Harleen Deol represent also solid selections. Yastika endured some struggles with injury, yet she was one of the strongest batters for Mumbai Indians Women. Similarly, Harleen demonstrated that she can have a solid season, if not great season as she did with Gujarat Giants in 2025. Overall, the UP Warriorz are working with a strong budget and more than enough talent within the pool of players in the auction to develop the team in 2026, after a weaker 2025.
