ICC Confirms USD 13.88 Million Prize Money for Women’s World Cup in India & Sri Lanka

ICC Confirms USD 13.88 Million Prize Money for Women’s World Cup in India & Sri LankaThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has set a record prize fund for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. The tournament will take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. This time, the total prize money is USD 13.88 million, which is almost three times higher than the 2022 edition that had USD 3.5 million.

The champions of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup will take home USD 4.48 million, while the runners-up will receive USD 2.24 million. Both semi-final teams will get USD 1.12 million each. Teams will also earn USD 34,314 for every win in the group stage and even the team finishing last in the tournament will still receive USD 250,000.

Interestingly, the total prize money for the Women’s World Cup is USD 3.88 million more than what was offered in the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in India. In fact, the winners of the upcoming women’s event will earn more than what Australia received after lifting the men’s trophy in 2023. Back then, the Aussies were awarded USD 4 million for their victory.

“This announcement marks a defining milestone in the journey of women’s cricket. This four-fold rise in prize money marks a historic moment for women’s cricket and shows our strong commitment to its long-term growth," Jay Shah, the Chairman of ICC said.

"Our message is simple women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally. The uplift underscores our ambition to deliver a world-class ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and to inspire the next generation of players and fans. Women’s cricket has been growing at a remarkable pace, and with this step, we are confident the progress will only get faster." he added.

"We call upon all stakeholders, fans, media, partners and Member Boards to join us in championing the women’s game and ensuring it receives the recognition and respect it deserves," he further stated.

The Women’s World Cup will start on September 30 with hosts India and Sri Lanka facing each other in the opening game at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Eight teams will be part of the event. In the group stage, every team will play against all the others once. The top four teams will go through to the semi-finals, while the other four will be out of the race.
