South Africa Crush Pakistan by 150 Runs – Women’s World Cup 2025 Updated Points Table

South Africa kept up their amazing form with their fifth win in a row, moving to the top of the points table. They beat Pakistan by 150 runs, giving them a big loss and knocking them out of the tournament. Earlier in the day, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first, and Fatima Sana gave them an early breakthrough by removing Tazmin Brits for a duck in just the second over. However, rain interrupted play just as Sadia Iqbal was about to deliver the third over, leading to multiple delays.
The game was first reduced to 42 overs per side and then further shortened to 40 after played spoilsport for more than two hours. Once play resumed, South Africa regained control as Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus put on a superb 118-run stand for the second wicket. The duo brought up their fifties before Sune Luus fell for 61 to Nashra Sandhu. Dercksen was run out cheaply, and Wolvaardt missed out on a well deserved hundred by just 10 runs after being dismissed by Nashra Sandhu. Sandhu struck again in the same over to dismiss Karabo Meso.
Chloe Tryon's brisk 21 came to an end as she was stumped by Pakistan wicket-keeper Sidra Nawaz. Marizanne Kapp and Nadine de Klerk tore into Pakistan’s bowling, adding a stunning 52-run partnership for the seventh wicket. De Klerk continued her fine form with a fiery 41 off just 16 balls, while Kapp remained unbeaten on 68 from 43 deliveries. Pakistan were sloppy in the field as South Africa posted a formidable 312/9, and with DLS adjustments, Pakistan were set a revised target of 306 in 40 overs. 3 wickets apiece for Sadia Iqbal (3/63) and Nashra Sandhu (3/45).
South Africa crush Pakistan by 150 runs to go top of the table
Pakistan’s chase got off to a disastrous start as they kept losing wickets early. Muneeba Ali was dismissed in just the second over for 5 by Ayabonga Khaka. Marizanne Kapp then ran through the top order, striking three times inside the first nine overs to remove Omaima Sohail, Sidra Ameen, and Aliya Riaz, leaving Pakistan reeling at 35/4.
Just as they looked to rebuild, rain returned to disrupt proceedings once again. The match was halted for nearly an hour, with conditions fluctuating as the rain stopped and started multiple times. During the interruptions, the target kept changing, first to 299 in 37 overs, then to 270 in 27 overs, and finally to 262 in 25 overs. Players managed to get back on the field for a brief two-over period before the skies opened up again, forcing another stoppage in the game.
Finally, with less than five minutes to go before the cut-off, the ground staff managed to get the field ready just in time. The revised target for Pakistan Women was 234 in 20 overs, but South Africa raced through the first 8 overs in no time. Pakistan struggled throughout, losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to 83/7 in their allotted overs, going down by a massive 150 runs. With this win, South Africa climb to the top of the table, while Pakistan are eliminated from the tournament.
