IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals Performance in the Season

RR Playing XIIPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals Performance in the Season

After the exciting action over the last two months, the IPL 2025 is now near completion, with just a few games remaining. However, one team that played in the qualifier last year performed poorly, finishing the season in the lower part of the points table. This article discusses the Rajasthan Royals' performance in the IPL 2025.

Rajasthan Royals in the Points Table

Rajasthan Royals, which finished third last season, saw a sharp decline in their performance this season, finishing in ninth place. Rajasthan struggled across multiple departments, which we will discuss below. Still, the biggest setback for the team was the injury of captain Sanju Samson, who was unable to lead the team for over half of the season. In the 14 matches played this season, the team won only four matches while losing the remaining 10.

Rajasthan Royals: Batting Performance

In the batting department of the Rajasthan Royals, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the highest run scorer for the team, scoring over 500 runs in the season. The batting department, which looks comparatively weak compared to last year, couldn't find some reliable and experienced middle-order players who could take the innings forward. The second and third highest scorers for the team were the vice-captain Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel, who scored 393 and 333 runs respectively, but they didn’t dent with the expected performance.

The team certainly missed players like Jos Buttler this season, who has been the key batter for the team for years, and thus, we can see the team's poor performance this season. Though there were various inconsistencies, the team found an exceptional player like Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the second half of the season, who impressed everyone with his explosive batting skills.

Rajasthan Royals: Bowling Performance

One of the biggest weaknesses for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 was their bowling department, which could not maintain a strong hold over the opponent's batting order, nor could it take enough wickets. While, on one hand, the teams that qualified for the playoffs had at least one bowler who led the team from the front and took around 20 wickets in the season, on the Rajasthan side, there was not a single bowler who could take even 15 wickets; the maximum any bowler achieved was eleven wickets.

Overall, the Rajasthan Royals' batting and bowling game was the biggest reason for their performance, but the absence of Sanju Samson, who led the team to the playoffs last year, can also be attributed to one of the reasons for the team's performance in the season.
