Rajasthan Royals Qualify for IPL 2026 Playoffs After Dominant Win Over Mumbai Indians

Rajasthan Royals have qualified for the playoffs as the fourth team after a dominant 30-run win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. They delivered an excellent all-round performance with bat, ball, and fielding. Mumbai Indians finish the season in 9th place, while Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings have also been knocked out of the playoff race.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya flipped the coin in his favor and elected to bowl first. MI got a very good start with the ball removing the dangerous openers Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and skipper Riyan Parag inside the powerplay. Dhruv Jurel at number 3 held one end to score 38 in 26 balls, Jofra Archer contributed with 32 in 15 and Ravindra Jadeja as the impact player put the finishing touches to put 205/8 on the board.

MI were off to a poor start losing impact player Rohit Sharma for a duck in the very first over as Archer continued his brilliant performance into the second innings. Naman Dhir also faced the fire as his stumps were demolished by Archer in his 2nd over. Ryan Rickelton was enduced in a false stroke by Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma cleaned up Tilak Varma on the first ball of his spell to push back MI in the powerplay with 49/4 on the board.

Former skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks added 63 runs for the 5th wicket before the Englishman was sent in the dugout for 33 off 18 deliveries by youngster Yash Punja. Skipper Hardik Pandya dropping down at number 7 looked in good touch smashing 3 fours and 2 sixes to score 34 in 15 balls adding 48 runs with SKY for the 6th wicket.

Having bowled 3 overs in the powerplay, Archer was brought in to finish his spell in the 16th over and he delivered the goods by sending Pandya back in the shed bringing down a lower order collapse on MI with the score slumping from 149/5 to 158/8 losing Corbin Bosch (2 off 4) and Suryakumar in quick succession. SKY top scored with a 42-ball 60 hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes despite ramping the ball straight on the grille of his helmet early in the innings.

Some tidy death bowling from Brijesh, Punja and Burger meant Dasun Shanaka had 37 runs to defend in the final over with the last batting pair on the crease and conceded only 6 runs to seal the win for RR! Archer was the pick of the bowlers with 3/17, 2 wickets apiece for Brijesh, Burger and Yash Punja.
