IND vs AUS: How Bumrah Has Dominated Australia’s Top Batters in BGT

This year in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jasprit Bumrah did great for India as their MVP. Bumrah defeated the Aussie batters by getting an impressive 21 wickets for a very low average of just 10.90 runs per wicket. His best performance was pulling off a 6/76 in Brisbane, plus he got five batters out in a single inning not once but twice. Comparing him to his closest rival in the series Mitchell Starc, who only got 14 wickets, and each of those cost him approximately 22.57 runs, Bumrah's skills were on another level in this series.

Bumrah has caused serious problems for Australia's top seven batters. The opening batters of Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney have struggled the most. Khawaja has scored just 17 runs off 71 balls against Bumrah, while McSweeney managed 15 off 66 balls. Both have fallen to him four times.

Steve Smith has also had a hard time. He has faced 54 deliveries from Bumrah, scoring only 20 runs before being dismissed three times. Marnus Labuschagne, Australia's dependable batter, has found it particularly tough. He has faced 72 balls from Bumrah, scoring only six runs and getting out twice.

Travis Head against Bumrah

Among the top order, Travis Head has been the most successful batter from Australia against Bumrah. He has scored 83 runs and been dismissed twice, making him the least troubled by the Indian pacer. Meanwhile, Alex Carey and Mitchell Marsh have been dismissed by Bumrah just once, despite facing 30 and 47 deliveries, respectively.

India has been performing well because of Bumrah's bowling correct line and length. Now, with the Fourth Test rolling in Melbourne on Boxing Day, December 26, the team's hoping he plays his best, but it's not all on him, the rest of the group needs to increase their game too.
