India vs Australia Highlights, ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Semifinal: Jemimah Rodrigue's brilliant 127 guides India to the final

The Indian women's cricket team has qualified for the 2025 World Cup final. India defeated defending champions Australia at the DY Patil Sports Academy ground. Batting first, Australia scored 338 runs. In response, Jemimah Rodrigues's century helped India achieve the seemingly impossible target in 49 overs. Team India won the match by 5 wickets. This is the highest run chase in women's ODI cricket. It is also the highest run chase in a knockout in World Cup history. This has not happened in the men's World Cup yet.

She remained unbeaten until the end and led the team to the final. She scored 127 runs, facing 134 balls and hitting 14 fours. Jemima made a partnership of 167 runs for the third wicket with Harmanpreet Kaur. This partnership of 156 balls turned the match in India's favour. Harmanpreet Kaur missed the century. She played an innings of 89 runs in 88 balls. Deepti Sharma contributed 24 runs in 17 balls while Richa Ghosh contributed 26 runs in 16 balls.

In the end, Amanjot Kaur played an unbeaten innings of 15 runs in 8 balls. Opener Phoebe Litchfield made 119 runs for Australia. Half centuries also came from the bat of Ellyse Perry (77 runs) and Ashleigh Gardner (63 runs). Left arm spinner Shree Charani took two wickets for 49 runs. The visitors recovered from 220 for two to 265 for six, but Gardner's 45-ball knock, which included four fours and as many sixes, took them past 300. The team was all out for 338 with one ball to spare. Litchfield hit 17 fours and three sixes in her 93-ball innings.

Perry also hit six fours and two sixes in her 88-ball innings. Litchfield and Perry shared a 155-run partnership for the second wicket in 133 balls. Early in the innings, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur gave Alyssa Healy a reprieve by dropping her catch in the third over. However, the Australian captain, who had returned to the playing eleven, was dismissed cheaply in the sixth over. Litchfield's brilliant innings ended when she was hit by a delivery from Amanjot Kaur, which she attempted to play to deep fine leg but which uprooted her middle stump.

Perry, who supported her well, made a crucial contribution to the team with a half-century. She was bowled by Radha Yadav. The Indian bowlers needed to be disciplined, but Kranti Goud was inconsistent in line and length, and Renuka Singh failed to achieve her familiar in-swing. India's leading wicket-taker, Deepti (2/73), took two wickets in the final moments.
