No Victory Parade Yet: BCCI Focuses on ICC Meeting After India Women’s Historic World Cup Win

[ Poll: QyEX77w6 ]

India’s women’s cricket team made history by winning their first-ever World Cup, ending a 47-year wait for an ICC title. However, their celebrations will have to be put on hold for now.

No Victory Parade Planned Yet for India’s Women’s World Cup Winners

The BCCI has said there won’t be any victory parade this time. When the men’s team won the 2024 T20 World Cup after 11 years, they celebrated with a big open-bus parade in Mumbai that ended at the Wankhede Stadium. But the women’s team won’t have a parade, at least not for now.

“Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told IANS.

BCCI Focuses on ICC Meeting, Plans Celebration for Women’s World Cup Winners

The BCCI is now focusing on the ICC meeting that will be held in Dubai from November 4 to 7. Earlier, Saikia had written to the ICC about the behaviour of ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who had refused to give the 2025 Asia Cup trophy to the Indian men’s team. The BCCI wants to resolve that issue and bring the trophy home.

But Saikia has confirmed that there will be celebrations for the Indian women’s team for winning the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup trophy.

“I’m leaving for Dubai to attend the ICC meeting. Several officials are heading there as well, so once we return, we will plan accordingly. We will take up the Asia Cup trophy matter with the ICC and hopefully get our trophy back with the respect and honour it deserves,” he added.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced a reward of ₹51 crore for the players, coaches, and support staff.
