Bangladesh Ends 6-Year Wait, Wins T20I Series Against WI by 27 Runs

Bangladesh secured the T20I series against West Indies with a comprehensive 27-run win in the second match on Tuesday, December 17, at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St. Vincent. The Tigers came back from a disappointing 0-3 loss in the ODI series to seal the T20I series with one game in hand, to be played on Thursday, December 19, at the same venue.

West Indies decided to field first and delivered an excellent bowling performance, restraining Bangladesh to 129 for 7. Gudakesh Motie was exceptional with the bowling figures of 4-0-25-2, while Akeal Hosein was tight in his four overs giving just 16 runs. Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph, and Obed McCoy contributed with one wicket apiece and put continuous pressure on the visitors.

Shamim Shines as Bangladesh Triumphs Over West Indies

Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 26 while Jaker Ali scored 21 in Bangladesh. Despite this, they could not bring a change of pace. A quick-fire knock of 17 balls of 35, with two fours and two sixes, by key player Shamim Hossain Patowary over 120 runs helped the Bangladesh team win it, and Player of the Match was awarded to him as well.

West Indies got off to a rough start, slipping to 32 for four in the powerplay. They did not get any better and were 42 for six, but a 47-run partnership for the seventh wicket gave them some hope. Roston Chase made 32 runs before getting bowled out by Rishad Hossain, and Akeal Hosein kept the chase alive with 31 runs off 31 balls.

However, Hosein's wicket in the second last over, with 28 runs still needed, ended their chances. Taskin Ahmed was Bangladesh's bowler of the match by taking three wickets while conceding just 16 runs in 3.3 overs. Mahedi Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Rishad Hossain each managed one wicket to contribute to Bangladesh's win.
