Bangladesh Delay Ireland Tour Due to India Series Schedule

Bangladesh was scheduled to tour Ireland in September 2026. However, this tour is being postponed. The major reason to postpone the series against Ireland is that Bangladesh wants to host India during this period.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had talked to Cricket Ireland to find a suitable period for the tour. However, Ireland has busy schedule, and they couldn’t change their matches. Thus, the tour had to be shifted to a later time. The tour is expected to take place sometime later, probably in 2027.

Bangladesh delay Ireland tour to prioritise India series amid tight 2026 schedule

The tour by India, which was earlier scheduled to take place in 2025, is being shifted to 2026. The tour is expected to take place on August 28. There will be three ODIs and three T20 games. The ODI games will start on September 1, 3, and 6. The T20 games will take place from September 9, 12, and 13.

According to BCB official, they tried to find a suitable time for the series. However, they could not find a suitable time for the series. In recent games, Bangladesh performed well against Pakistan, winning the series 2-1. As a result, they have moved up the ranking table, securing the 9th position with 79 points.

In order to directly qualify for the 2027 World Cup, Bangladesh has to be in the top 8 teams by March 2027. If they fail to achieve this, they will have to participate in the qualifying tournament.
