Bangladesh to Notify ICC Before Taking Next Steps on Probe Report

Aminul Haque, Bangladesh’s Youth and Sports State Minister, said they will first inform the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the report and then decide what to do next. He held a meeting with other ministries after receiving the report from the five-member committee on Sunday (April 5). The committee also suggested some steps to ensure a fair and clean election.

 Aminul Haque said that,

"Look, the investigation committee has already submitted its report this morning and immediately and I convened an inter-ministerial meeting, where we held discussions on the matter,"

he added,

"Once we formally inform the ICC about the investigation report, we will take our next decision,"

Meanwhile, former sports adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, who helped plan the election, explained his side. Earlier, the probe committee said he did not reply to their request to meet him in person.

 Asif posted in his Facebook post,

"I sought clarification on whether the committee (probe committee) had the authority to investigate a matter under judicial consideration and involving an autonomous institution," 

"I received no satisfactory response. I will not knowingly be part of any irregular or contemptuous process,"

Aminul said that Asif did not help the investigation team looking into the BCB elections. He also said that officials have noted that the former sports adviser did not attend.

"The investigation report has already been submitted. Since he did not participate, that is certainly reflected in the report,
