Australia's Women Secure Ashes Series with Another T20 Triumph Over England
In the 2025 Women's Ashes, the match in Canberra became unbelievably thrilling, but then it started to rain, It was the second T20. The rain came at the last over, so they couldn't complete the match. Australia was winning against England by six runs because of the DLS method.
Heather Knight, who is the captain of the team from England, hit the first ball for four runs. They still needed 22 runs to win and there were only five balls left. But then, it began to rain heavily. The umpires of the game announced that there would be no more playing because of the rain. Heather Knight looked very sad because her team didn't seize the opportunity to complete the game.
The match had to pause for a short time before because it was raining, but they didn't have to miss any chances. England had a hard time scoring the runs, even though Danni Wyatt-Hodge scored 52 runs and Sophia Dunkley scored 32 runs at the beginning. Then, Megan Schutt took Danni and Sophia in one over, and it made it very hard for England to do well after that. Knight and Nat Sciver-Brunt tried to chase score. By the final over, England's chances were slim, and the rain ultimately sealed their fate.
For Australia, captain Tahlia McGrath led from the front, scoring an 48, while Grace Harris scored 35* runs. The pair’s partnership helped Australia recover from a bad start after Beth Mooney’s solid 44 runs ended with her stumping and Georgia Voll’s run-out for 5. Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean kept England in the game with important wickets wickets, reducing Australia to 4-75 at one stage. A last overs from Annabel Sutherland scored 18 runs and the McGrath-Harris stand propelled Australia to a competitive 5-185 from their 20 overs.
Since 2015, Australia has been a impresive perfomance in the Women's Ashes, securing consecutive wins in 2015, 2019, 2021-22, and 2025. They consistently beating England across formats, winning important ODIs and T20s while maintaining composure in Test matches.
