ICC Chairperson Jay Shah Becomes Member of World Cricket Connects Advisory Board

International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah has been included in the Marylebone Cricket Club's (MCC) new advisory board called World Cricket Connects. Replacing the club's world cricket committee, the new advisory board will comprise 13 founding members of whom Jay Shah, the former BCCI secretary, is one. Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara will lead the advisory board.

The World Cricket Connects event is scheduled for June 7 and 8 at Lord's, just before the WTC final. Jay Shah was absent at last year's event, which saw over 100 cricketers speak about the game. Other founding members of the board include Sourav Ganguly, Graeme Smith, Andrew Strauss, and England women's captain Heather Knight.

The cricket committee formed was an independent grouping, now replaced by the World Cricket Connects board. The suggestions made at different times by this committee were adopted by the ICC during its years and included DRS, the WTC, and day-night Tests.

"Firstly, we are delighted to be bringing World Cricket Connects back to Lord's in 2025, ahead of an immense meeting between South Africa and Australia in the ICC World Test Championship Final. We are looking forward to welcoming many of the game's most influential figures to debate the most important topics that dominate global cricket," MCC chairman Mark Nicholas said.

"In planning the second event, an important step was taken in the formation of the World Cricket Connects Advisory Board. We have assembled an impressive group of the best minds in cricket across several different areas relevant to our sport. I am delighted to be working with this experienced group and excited about what we can collectively achieve for the benefit of the global game," he added.
