Asia Cup 2025: Team India May Play Without Main Jersey Sponsor After Dream11 Exit, New Jersey Design Revealed
Team India is likely to play the upcoming Asia Cup without a main jersey sponsor, as photos of their new kit on social media show a plain look. This comes after Dream11 stepped away from the role following the new online gaming bill by the Indian government, and the BCCI has not been able to finalize a replacement sponsor in time.
As per the new Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, online fantasy sports and gambling platforms have been banned. Because of this, reports say Dream11 has decided to step away as the lead jersey sponsor of the Indian men’s team. The same reports also suggest that the BCCI will soon invite fresh bids for the sponsorship rights, but if a new deal isn’t finalized in time, Team India may have to play the Asia Cup without a lead sponsor on their jersey.

BCCI Opens Bids for New Lead Sponsor
After Dream11 ended its sponsorship deal with a year still left on the contract, the BCCI couldn’t bring in a new sponsor in time for the Asia Cup 2025. Interestingly, many fans seem to prefer the clean, sponsorless look of the new jersey over the old one. The Indian team is currently in Dubai preparing for the tournament, and as Suryakumar Yadav’s side gets ready for their first match, supporters have noticed that the training kit is sponsor-free for the first time in years.
The jersey is not expected to stay sponsorless for long as the BCCI has already opened up bids for the lead sponsorship rights on September 2. In its announcement, the board clearly stated that certain categories of companies will not be allowed to apply for the Indian team’s jersey sponsorship. The detailed notice also highlighted which types of businesses are barred from entering the BCCI’s sponsorship pool.
The BCCI’s decision came after the Indian government banned online money gaming platforms. Along with that, the board made it clear that only companies with a minimum annual turnover of ₹300 crore can apply for the jersey sponsorship rights. Meanwhile, Team India is already in Dubai preparing for their Asia Cup campaign, where they will face UAE, Pakistan and Oman in the group stage.
