Yuzvendra Chahal Settles Divorce with Dhanashree Verma, Agrees to Pay ₹4.75 Crore in Alimony

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has agreed to pay ₹4.75 crore as permanent alimony to his wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma. According to a report by Bar and Bench on Wednesday, Chahal has already paid ₹2.37 crore. However, the family court considered the delay in paying the remaining amount as non-compliance.

Earlier reports were saying that Dhanashree Verma was asking for ₹60 crore in alimony from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. However, Dhanashree’s family has denied these claims. A member of the Verma family released a statement, calling the alimony reports “false” and “baseless.” They said they were disappointed by these false rumors and requested people not to spread such untrue information. The family member also made it clear that Dhanashree never demanded any alimony from Chahal.

“We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumours whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation and also be respectful towards everyone’s privacy," the statement read.

"Bombay High Court has overturned a Family Court decision that denied the request to waive the statutory cooling-off period for the divorce of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma under the Hindu Marriage Act. A bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar has also directed the family court to decide the divorce petition by tomorrow considering Chahal's participation in the upcoming IPL," Bar and Bench posted on X.

According to Bar and Bench, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma, who got married in 2020, have been living apart for nearly a year. Their divorce is expected to be finalized tomorrow, March 20.
