The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League is now nears its completion, with the playoffs currently ongoing and finishing in June 3 with the finals. In this season, we have witnessed some exceptional performances from young players throughout the season. Today, in this article, we will take a look at those players who left their mark on the tournament at such a young age.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The 14-year-old boy from Bihar left his mark on the Indian Premier League 2025 season with his outstanding performance that no one could have expect. Vaibhav, who was born on 27 March 2011, a week before India lifted the World Cup for the second time, showcased his exceptional batting skills 14 years later, playing against some players who have been playing cricket even before he was born. He also holds the record as one of the youngest players to play first-class cricket when he played for Bihar in January 2024.
The life-changing moment came when he made his debut for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025. Vaibhav played a total of 7 matches in the season, scoring 252 runs at an explosive strike rate of 206. His short stint with Rajasthan also included one half-century, one century, and 24 sixes in the tournament. On April 28, against the Gujarat Titans, he scored his first century in the IPL, making 101 runs off 38 balls gathering country wide appreciation and fame.

Ayush Mhatre
The second player on our list is the young Indian batter Ayush Mhatre, who played as the opener for Chennai Super Kings. Mhatre joined the CSK squad as a replacement for the injured Rituraj Gaikwad, who was hurt during the IPL 2025 season. In the seven matches played this season, Mhatre scored 240 runs, including a half-century. He made his debut against the Mumbai Indians, scoring 30 off 19 balls, and came into the limelight when he scored 94 off 48 against RCB in one of the matches.

Kwena Maphaka
The third player on our list is another individual from Rajasthan Royals, Kwena Maphaka. The young South African pacer, who recently made a name for himself with his selection in the South African international cricket team, was also acquired by Rajasthan Royals for this season. Rajasthan Royals signed him for a deal worth over a crore rupees, after which he played his first IPL match against Mumbai Indians at the age of 17. In total, he only played two matches for Rajasthan Royals, bowling six overs and taking one wicket.
