Yorkshire lose their second in five games despite Hasan Ali's 4/18

Yorkshire were betrayed by their shoddy batting display against Leicestershire as they lost their second game of the season by 12 runs. The defeat becomes more stinging given that their bowlers, especially Hasan Ali, were right on the money as they restricted Leicestershire to just 147 runs.

The Pakistan pacer grabbed four wickets for the bargain of just 18 runs in his four-over quota, including a double-wicket haul in his final over.

Hasan now has 11 wickets after five Vitality Blast games, which is the most for Yorkshire and fourth-highest overall. His average of 10.36 is better than anyone in the top ten barring the table-topper Duan Jansen.

Things went south for Yorkshire after they lost William Luxton off a Rehan Ahmed delivery. Seven wickets fell for just 35 runs following that in the next seven overs.

Bairstow disappointed

Yorkshire captain Jonny Bairstow said: "Bitterly disappointing. It just wasn't good enough, that. To get off to a good start like that and then lose seven for 35 – look, if we're being honest, it's extremely poor.

"There were six overs where we restricted them to 25-30 runs and took wickets. We bowled really nicely. Credit to the guys.

"But there's no hiding from it, with the bat there, we just weren't good enough.

"If you'd have said at the start of the competition that we would have been four wins from six, then we would have taken that. However, we'll look back on this one as one that we should have been on the other end of."

Besides Hasan, Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Așhraf also delivered a decent performance for Yorkshire. Taking one wicket for 29 runs in four overs, Faheem also chipped in with a brief batting cameo as he scored ten off seven balls.
