Vitality Blast 2026: Pakistan bowlers endure tough outings as round two begins
It was a tough day for Pakistan bowlers in the Vitality Blast as they bowled expensive overs for their respective teams in round two of the league. Usman Tariq, Akif Javed, and Usama Mir were thrashed all around the park as batters decided to exploit the assistance on offer.
Representing Derbyshire, Akif Javed began his spell quite economically, only conceding 25 runs in his first three overs as well as dismissing one batter. But it all went south in his final over, when fellow Pakistan bowler Hasan Ali broke all hell loose. The young pacer gave 15 runs in that over, which messed up his numbers pretty badly.
Usman, Usama had forgettable outings
Usman Tariq and Usama Mir, meanwhile, had a worse day with the ball. Usman, playing for Birmingham Bears, conceded 25 runs in his first two overs as Somerset’s James Rew decided to punish the Bears’ spinners. He got hit for 10 runs on the first two balls of his next over.
Though he managed to transpire a comeback from there, giving only 5 runs off his next 10 balls and dismissing Rew, the damage had already been done. Usman ended his spell with 40 runs in four overs and one wicket in his kitty.
Usama conceded an equal amount of runs but in three overs, which made his economy look uglier. He dismissed Northamptonshire’s Ricardo Vasconcelos in his second over but his wayward bowling was frequently punished by the opposition batters.
Hasan Ali, the all-rounder
Unlike these three bowlers, Hasan Ali had a game to remember for Yorkshire. The Pakistan pacer stepped up his batting skills as he played a late-innings cameo to take Yorkshire over the line against Derbyshire.
