WTC 2025 Final Venue: Why It Changed From Last Cycle and Where the Match Will Be Played This Year

[undefined.undefined - undefined , undefined undefined]

After two years of action, the third edition of the World Test Championship is now gearing up for its last match, the final, which will be played between South Africa and the defending champions, Australia will be played in London, England ,from June 11 to June 15, 2025. You might be wondering which ground will host the final this season, and the answer is Lord's Cricket Ground.

Lord's Cricket Ground, well known as the home of cricket, is all set to host the prestigious ICC Test Championship Final for the first time in history. The match will be played from June 11 to 15, with an additional reserve day in case of rain.

Did you know that the ICC, before the WTC 2023 final, had also announced Lord's Cricket Ground as the venue for that season's final? However, it couldn't host the WTC 2023 final due to the venue's commercial agreements with the other parties. Since the ICC had its own commercial agreements with their responsible and sponsoring partners, Lord's Cricket Ground could not manage both of these agreements. As a result, it was decided that the WTC 2023 final would be hosted at The Oval in the same city, London, while the first-ever WTC final in 2021 was hosted at Southampton.

This year's final will be played between South Africa and Australia, who finished in first and second place in the WTC points table. While South Africa will be playing in the WTC finals for the first time, Australia will look to defend the title. Here are all the details you need to know.
