Waseem, Khuzaima rejoin Karachi, Warner expected to return before the next game
UAE cricketers Muhammad Waseem and Khuzaima bin Tanveer have returned to Karachi Kings ahead of their clash with Peshawar Zalmi on April 9. Earlier, the two cricketers were called back by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to participate in the domestic D50 tournament.
UAE players’ brief departure and return
While Khuzaima has yet to play a Pakistan Super League (PSL) game, Waseem has been a starter in all three of the Kings’ games, scoring 61 runs at a strike rate of 119.
Karachi, who last played on April 2, do not have any scheduled games until April 9. The pair only featured in two games of the D50 competition before being allowed to rejoin the PSL franchise.
Warner’s situation and expected comeback
David Warner, who also flew to Australia for a personal matter, is expected to return before the game. Warner was arrested for driving under the influence on Tuesday in Sydney, where he failed a breathalyser test. He had double the legal amount of blood alcohol and was taken to Maroubra Police Station.
While he has been instructed to appear before the court on May 7, the arrest should not affect either his return to Pakistan or his remaining PSL stint, with the final set to be played on May 3. It remains uncertain when he will rejoin the squad, but sources have reported that Warner, who is also Karachi’s captain, could fly back later today.
