Washington Sundar Injury Update: All-Rounder Set to Rejoin Squad Before IND vs NAM Clash in Delhi

India got good news about Washington Sundar. He will join the T20 World Cup team in Delhi before the match against Namibia on February 12. Sundar has not played cricket since an ODI series against New Zealand.

Washington Sundar set to join India squad ahead of Namibia clash

He was injured during an ODI match against New Zealand, where the first ODI match was played in Vadodara on the 11th of January. Because of the injuries caused to Sundar, Sundar was unable to play for New Zealand in the ODI series and T20 series. There was a doubt whether Sundar would feature in the World Cup or not.

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Sundar is well after the victory against the USA side in Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav said that Sundar is well and has no issues. His services will now be with the team in Delhi. Sundar has been rehabilitating at the BCCI Centre in Bengaluru, starting off hitting and then moving to bowling with the BCCI reporting that Sundar suffered from side strain and a mild rib injury.

India did not rush to formally name a replacement. They included Ayush Badoni in the ODI squad, Ravi Bishnoi in the squad for T20Is, and also kept Riyan Parag as an alternative option on the list. Teams could have replaced players because of injury as per the rules but they chose to wait for Sundar's availability.

Therefore while Sundar is included in the squad that does not necessarily mean he will play. However, he is a good indication that he is getting himself physically fit to be part of India's World Cup squad.
