
UP Warriorz Announced Deepti Sharma as Their New Captain for WPL 2025
Star Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma has been named the captain of UP Warriorz for the WPL 2025 season. Former UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy will miss this season as she recently played as a batter in the Ashes Test despite a stress injury and has been advised to rest for a few weeks.
The all-rounder Deepti Sharma has been a key player in the UP Warrioz squad since the first season. Deepti is the second-highest wicket-taker for UP Warrioz with 19 wickets in 17 matches. With the bat, she has scored 385 runs, including an impressive 295 runs last season.
She won the MVP award for scoring 295 runs in the last season. She also created history in 2024 by becoming the first Indian to take a hat-trick in the WPL.

Deepti Sharma Set for a Historic WPL 2025
The 27-year-old Deepti Sharma came from Utter Pradesh and she is India's highest wicket-taker in the T20Is. This season, she became the first player to captain her home team in their home stadium as the tournament expanded to more venues.
The WPL 2025 is set to kick off on February 14, the season opener match is between the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Giants. The UP Warrioz will start their campaign on February 16 against Gujarat Giants.
Deepti about her new role
Deepti said, "I am thrilled and honoured to be appointed as the captain of UP Warriorz, a team from my home state, UP Warriorz has an excellent squad, and we are determined to entertain our fans with the Warriorz style of cricket this season. We are excited to play in Lucknow in front of our home supporters and hope to inspire the next generation of women athletes."
