South Africa Announces Competition Schedule for the Next Three Editions of SA20

South Africa Announces Competition Schedule for the Next Three Editions of SA20Cricket South Africa(CSA) has announced the competition window for the next three editions of the SA20. The third season of the SA20, which kicked off on January 9, 2025, will follow its usual schedule and ends on February 8.

The next edition of the SA20 will kick off on Boxing Day later this year, according to recent updates. This decision seems to have been made by Cricket South Africa (CSA) to avoid conflicting with the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

CSA has confirmed that the next edition of the SA20 season will launch from December 26 onwards later this year and will run until January 26 next year. Going away from the traditional SA20 window, the 2026 season of the tournament would start a couple of weeks earlier in a bid to give competing players breathing space for February’s 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

The SA20 will revert to its original slot of January 9 in each of the subsequent two editions in 2027 and 2028.

The SA20 premiered back in 2023 in South Africa to a resounding success, as several matches fetched near-capacity crowds across the rainbow nation.

The opening round of the SA20 2025 season recently wrapped up, with MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, and Joburg Super Kings all securing spots in the playoffs.

MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals will face off in the first qualifier match in Gqeberha on February 14. The following day, on February 15, Sunrisers Eastern Cape will take on the Joburg Super Kings in Centurion.
