Mumbai Announces 18-Man Squad for Ranji Trophy Quarter-Final, Includes Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced their squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarter-final against Haryana. They have made an 18-member squad for the decissive match to be played at Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli from February 8 to 12.
For the match against Meghalaya, Mumbai has made three changes to their squad. The replacement of Harsh Tanna is Shreyas Gurav, and Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav have also been included. The 42-time champions are strengthening their middle order for the quarter-final as Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and Shreyas Iyer are ruled out. Musheer and Sarfaraz are injured and Iyer has left for Nagpur for a training camp as India is set to take on England in ODI series that begins on February 6.
With Ayush Mhatre and Amogh Bhatkal in the squad, the MCA has decided not to bring Prithvi Shaw back into the team. Shaw was dropped from Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad after upsetting the selectors with his fitness and disciplinary issues. While Shaw has been putting in the work to improve, the MCA remains unconvinced.
Had it been any other team, he might have been selected. But with Mumbai’s deep talent pool they aren’t going to rush to bring Shaw back anytime soon. For now, it looks like Shaw's next move might be the County Championship, where he could return to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club to continue the season, which starts on April 4.
