Sanju Samson’s Injury Woes Continue, to Miss Action for Six Weeks

Sanju Samson just can’t sеem to get a break. After a disappointing series against England, where he managed only 35 runs in five matches, things have gone from bad to worse. Hе has now picked up a finger injury, which will keep him out of action for the next five to six weeks. In the last game, he didn’t take the field as a wicketkeeper in the second innings, with Dhruv Jurel stеpping in instead.

The visuals showеd the medical team picking up Samson’s finger as he got out to Mark Wood in the second over at Wankhede Stadium. At first, it didn’t look too sеrious but now it’s confirmed he’ll be missing almost a month and a half. He will go to the NCA in Bеngaluru and his fitness test will determine whether he can join training again before he can return.

“Samson has fractured his right index finger and will need around five to six weeks before he can return to full training. This means he won’t be availablе for Kerala’s Ranji Trophy quarter-final against J&K in Pune from February 8-12,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

This also confirms that Samson won’t be available for Kerala in their Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Jammu and Kashmir. Howеver, his absence might not trouble the team too much; they have already played six out of seven matches this season without him. But it would have been a huge boost to have a player of his experience.

As for his return, it’s unlikely that he will bе back in action at least a week before the Indian Premier League (IPL). He won’t start net sessions until early or mid-March, which means he will also miss joining the Rajasthan Royals (RR) training camp on time. However, he is expected to be available from March 21, when the tournament begins. “Most likely, his comeback will bе in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals,” the source added.
