Chennai Super Kings crush Delhi Capitals as Sanju Samson smashes unbeaten 87

A strong bowling performance followed by a brilliant innings from Sanju Samson helped Chennai Super Kings win their 5th match, beating Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets with 15 balls left. Opening the innings, Samson remained till the end to steer CSK, decorating the Arun Jaitley Stadium with strokes smashing 7 fours and 6 maximums in his unbeaten match-winning 87 off 52 deliveries.

Earlier in the evening, Axar Patel spun the coin in his favor and elected to bat. Mukesh Choudhary and Akeal Hosein picked up a couple of wickets in the powerplay and put the struggling DC top and middle order under immense pressure. It was thanks to an unbeaten 40 from Sameer Rizvi and a calm 38 from Tristan Stubbs that helped DC to a fighting 155/7. Hosein was the pick of the bowlers with 1/19, Choudhary picked up 1/31, 2/33 for Noor Ahmad, Gurjapneet Singh bowled 4 overs for 1/29 which left just one over for sixth bowler Jamie Overton who also picked up a wicket.

CSK win comfortably as Samson’s unbeaten 87 seals chase against DC

Lungi Ngidi back in the lineup after an injury break struck in his first over removing CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for 6 off 13. Urvil Patel at number 3 started off with a boundary but KL Rahul's quick glovework behind the stumps caught him off guard with Axar claiming the wicket in the 7th over. Kartik Sharma included in the playing XI tonight continued his good form and supported Samson till the end with an unbeaten 41 in 31 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Kartik and Samson added 114 runs for the 3rd wicket and were inseparable till the youngster finished the game off T Natarajan with a boundary in the 18th over. Skipper Axar led the bowling attack from the front with 1/25, Ngidi returned and continued his economic form with 1/30, Mitchell Starc was wicketless but conceded just 30 runs in 4 overs but the Kuldeep Yadav and T Natarajan duo was totally off color conceding 73 runs in a combined 5.3 over-spell.
