PSL 11: The most expensive players sold at the auction for each PSL team

PSL 11: The most expensive players sold at the auction for each PSL teamIslamabad United

The auction began with Faheem Ashraf going up for the sale, and within minutes several franchises got into contention to rope in the all-rounder. Eventually, Islamabad United got Faheem for a staggering PKR 85 million.

Team Rawalpindi

Only Naseem Shah, who was bought by Team Rawalpindi, managed to get a bigger payday than Faheem Ashraf. Rawalpindi outbid the others as they offered PKR 86.5 million for the pacer, making him the most expensive player of the first-ever PSL auction.

Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars looked resolute to get back as many of their players from previous seasons as possible. The franchise seemed set on going all out to bag Haris Rauf, outbidding Team Rawalpindi. Similar was the case when it came Fakhar Zaman’s turn. Qalandars took the bid to PKR 79.5 million for the top-order batter, and had the other teams not quit the bidding war, they would have happily splurged more to get their man in.

Karachi Kings

Speaking of past allegiances, Karachi Kings, who released their last season captain David Warner, made amends and bid in an intense battle with Peshawar Zalmi to rope him in. Karachi paid PKR 79 million for the Aussie batter, which is the most they spent on one player in the auction.

Sialkot Stallionz

Sialkot Stallionz had to beat two other franchises and offer PKR 57 million to snap Sahibzada Farhan, their most expensive player at the PSL auction. Although Sialkot were late to the bidding war for Farhan with Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators already battling, they managed to bring out the magic number to get the top-order batter.

Quetta Gladiators

Quetta Gladiators also had to steal their highest pick Khawaja Mohammad Nafay from Islamabad United in an interesting bidding war. Islamabad raised the golden bat seven times in attempts to outbid Quetta, who, though kept gently upping the bids, stayed until the end and got Nafay for PKR 65 million.

Peshawar Zalmi

Having saved a good chunk of their salary purse until the last stages, Peshawar Zalmi were able to bag two players in the highest category. Kusal Mendis and Michael Bracewell were roped in by the team for PKR 42 million each, with little to no resistance from other bidders.

Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen

Hyderabad’s most expensive pick was Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith. Meredith was bought for PKR 42 million
