PSL 2026 Final: Peshawar Zalmi vs Hyderabad Kingsmen - Team Overview, Head-to-Head, Pitch Report, & Where to Watch

Peshawar Zalmi boarded a first-class flight to the PSL Final. Dressed in their most immaculate suits, with their notes perfectly aligned, colour-coded, and categorised. They came a few hours earlier to be on the safer side.

They will face Hyderabad Kingsmen, who have had an opposite campaign. Kingsmen hitch-hiked to the final, got off at the wrong station in between, and then crashed the meeting at the last moment. They have no semblance of any kind of notes; they look dishevelled, but they have still beaten other teams to the grand meeting.

Team Overview:

Hyderabad might have been on opposite ends to Peshawar Zalmi for almost the entire season, but the fact that both teams have lost one of their recent eight games makes them the deserving finalists, regardless of the route they took.

They had a fairy-tale win against Islamabad United in Eliminator 2, which was, more or less, their entire campaign in a nutshell. Islamabad were well set to win the game and make it to the final once more, but Hunain Shah’s last over turned the tables entirely.

It’s interesting to note that Hunain had bowled only two last overs while defending this season. Once against Islamabad in E2, and another where he was unable to defend 14 runs, and that was against Zalmi batters. That game produced results in Zalmi’s favour on the last ball, but Hyderabad seem to have metamorphosed into an entirely different beast since. They went on to win all four of their next group stage games and are now sitting in the final alongside the same team. Is redemption on Hyderabad and Hunain’s mind?

Head-to-Head Matches:

Hyderabad and Peshawar have played only one game in the PSL so far, and that was won by the latter on the very last ball.

Pitch Report:

The surface at Lahore has been very batting-friendly, but that has not stopped the teams from putting on a decent contest. Teams generally opt to field first in Lahore to exploit the dew in the second innings. However, in the Islamabad vs Hyderabad fixture on Friday, the Kingsmen's bowling overcame the advantage.
