MCG has been a citadel for India, whom they haven't lost here in Test cricket in 12 years. Despite all this, it hasn't always been an easy surface for Rohit Sharma or the team to play against. KL Rahul to Open, Rohit at No. 6

Rohit Sharma continues to raise many questions about his batting position, avoiding a clear response during his press conference on Tuesday. When asked what his role in the batting order was going to be, Rohit said, "Let's not focus too much on that. Where each player bats is something we will decide within the team. It's not something I need to explain at every press conference. Our focus is on doing what is best for the team to perform well and succeed."

Despite his retort, it would look like middle-order batting will be the way to go for him. Rohit has gone dry on the form, scoring a century last 14 innings back. The new ball might add more pressure, and placing him at No. 6 would be the ideal way to get him out of that shell.

Washington Sundar Comes in for Mohammed Siraj

The batting lineup could remain unchanged, but the bowling department may witness some changes. Except for Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling department has not been too effective and thus changes will be required. Rohit Sharma might like to include two spinners in his team-Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Both have played one match each in this series and can also help with important runs in the lower order.

In the pace attack, Bumrah is an automatic pick. His form has been incredible taking 21 wickets in three matches at an average of 10.90 and a strike rate of 25. Mohammed Siraj, despite picking up 13 wickets in the same period, has been expensive. Akash Deep could be the best alternative. He impressed during the second innings of the Brisbane Test, taking three wickets and showing great energy. Nitish Reddy might slot in as an all-rounder and third pacer. However, if India opts for just two pacers and two spinners in the Boxing Day Test, Nitish will have to step up and bowl more overs. So far, he has taken three wickets in three matches at an average of 41.
