IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Squad Review, Auction, Batting Bowling, Playing XI and more

Gujarat Titans have built a strong core for the next three years; it looks like Gujarat has done one of the best auctions overall among all the teams; they have added a backup for every position in the playing XI, with the 25-member squad going to have a strong bench strength along with a complete playing XI.

Gujarat Titans Retentions 

Gujarat retained five players before the auction, including two uncapped Indians.

• Rashid Khan
• Sai Sudharshan
• Rahul Tewatia
• Shahrukh Khan

From the Auction

Gujarat started its auction by purchasing Josh Butler, England's premier batter. Along with Subhman Gill, Josh Butler will open the innings for Gujarat. In the same auction set, the team also purchased star South African pacer Kagiso Rabada. The team purchased Josh Butler for a whopping 15.75 crores and Kagiso Rabada for 10.75 crores.

The team’s batting strength

Gujarat has built a strong batting core with Shubman Gill and Jose Butler at the top as openers, along with Sai Sudarshan. The duo of Jos and Gill is going to be the nightmare for the opponent's bowlers as everyone knows what both batters are capable of, whether it's the innings build-up of Shubman Gill or the attack of Jos butler, which we have seen multiple times during his Rajasthan Royals innings.

For the middle order, the team has Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan. Both the Indian batters can score quick runs in the end. The team has two options for the overseas batter position: Glenn Philips and Sherfane Rutherford. Philips will have an added advantage as he can also give some overs with the bowlers.

All-rounder strength 

The team's lack of an overseas all-rounder can be seen as a weakness. Although the team has multiple all-rounders, all are Indians. Rahul Tewatia, Washington Sundar and Jayant Yadav.

Bowling strength 

The best work has been done in the peace department, where the team includes Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee, Mohammad Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. While Rabada will be the first choice, Coetzee will act as his backup. On the Indian side, both Siraj and Krishna will play in all the matches.

For the Spin department, the team has a well-known name, Rashid Khan, and he will be having the support of Washington Sundar and our Sai Kishore. 

Weakness

There are a few weaknesses too in the team 

• Absence of overseas gum All-rounder
• Lower Order batter who can hit 20-30 runs in the last 2-3 overs 
• Second top class spinner to support Rashid Khan.

This is the probable XII(with an impact player) that we will see in the first match.
