PCB finalizes bidders for Multan Sultans’ auction, date to be revealed soon

PCB finalizes bidders for Multan Sultans’ auction, date to be revealed soonPakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected five parties from the six bids it received for ownership rights of Multan Sultans. The five bids, which were selected after technical evaluation by the PCB bid committee, will participate in the team auction, the date and venue for which will be announced soon.

Will Tareen bid for Multan?

For context, the PCB had decided to run Multan Sultans in-house after the former owner of Multan, Ali Tareen, refused to renew the ownership contract, unlike the rest of the PSL franchises. However, after the successful auction of two new franchises, Hyderabad and Sialkot, the board reversed its decision and put Multan up for grabs.

Unverified sources have revealed that Tareen, who withdrew from the previous team auction, saying he would return to bid for Multan whenever the franchise was put up for sale, has also submitted a proposal. However, it is unclear if he is among the qualified bidders.

Team auction to take place before February 11

PSL CEO Salman Naseer confirmed that the team auction will take place before the player auction, which is set to be staged on February 11.

“We are delighted to receive such keen interest in the sale of Multan Sultans’ franchise rights. The HBL PSL congratulates the technically qualified bidders and appreciates all parties who engaged with us throughout the tender process, with whom we will continue to explore other exciting opportunities.

“I’m sure the fans are equally excited for another thrilling team auction before the focus shifts to the all-important player auction for HBL PSL 11. The final lineup of the eight HBL PSL team owners is going to set the ball rolling for the new era of HBL PSL 11.

“Stay tuned for further updates from HBL PSL. Exciting times await.”
