Pakistan vs England one-off Test in 2027 could see a venue change
Pakistan's one-off Test match in England ahead of the 2027 Ashes could be shifted from its original venue. The game was supposed to be held at Old Trafford in May, as confirmed previously by an English media report.
Pakistan in reports to play England at Lord’s
"Next summer, an England Test against Pakistan in late May, at Old Trafford, is currently scheduled during the IPL. That precedes the Ashes, which will begin at Trent Bridge, the most northerly ground of the series," read the report.
However, the solitary Test game, which was included for England to prepare before they begin the Ashes at Trent Bridge, is under consideration to be shifted to Lord's Cricket Ground. Pakistan are also supposed to play the home team at Lord's in August this year, when the two teams will play a three-match Test series.
If the shift happens, this will be the second time in a year that the two teams will play a game at the venue. The last time Lord's hosted England and Pakistan for a Test match was in May 2018, when the visitors defeated England by nine wickets.
Lord’s could lose WTC final hosting rights
Lord's was also named as the venue for the World Test Championship final next year, but following growing concerns over pitch curation quality at the ground, the venue could reportedly lose the hosting rights in favour of Headingley.
The England and Wales Cricket Board is also considering hosting Pakistan for a five-match Test series starting in the next WTC cycle. The board has reportedly reached out to Pakistan, who have not played a five-match red-ball series since 1992.
England, too, have not faced any team other than India and Australia in such a series since 2009.
