Oval Invincibles to Rebrand as MI London Ahead of The Hundred 2026

Oval Invincibles to Rebrand as MI London Ahead of The Hundred 2026

[ Poll: aZBMA9L9 ]

Oval Invincibles the most successful side in The Hundred with two titles each for both their men’s and women’s teams will soon get a new name: MI London.

According to a report in The Telegraph on Thursday (August 21), “Oval Invincibles are expected to rebrand as MI London, the first choice of their Indian co-owners." The team’s name will be changed before the start of the sixth season of The Hundred.

Other than Oval Invincibles, the owners of Mumbai Indians also run teams in different leagues, Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Mumbai Indians Women in the WPL, MI New York in Major League Cricket, MI Cape Town in SA20, and MI Emirates in the ILT20.

Oval Invincibles to Become MI London

The Hundred will undergo major changes next year when the new ownership model will formally take over. In the popular 100-balls-per-side tournament, the host venues running teams will operate alongside new investors, who have bought at least 49 per cent of each team.

Surrey have joined hands with the Ambanis, who picked up a 49% stake in Oval Invincibles during an auction that valued the team at £123 million.

According to the report, “The name of the franchise from next year has been a contentious issue from the start and is not yet confirmed in writing. However, Telegraph Sport understands that it will be called MI London despite the wishes of Surrey, who initially wanted the county name incorporated into a rebranded Oval Invincibles."

“From a brand perspective, I hope we can brand it as a Surrey-branded team and part of our cricket ecosystem," chairman Oli Slipper was quoted as saying by Telegraph Sport in 2023.

From next year, Oval Invincibles will be called MI London. This means The Hundred will then have two teams with “London” in their name, as the Lord’s-based team is already called London Spirit. Next year, Manchester Originals will be renamed Manchester Super Giants, and Northern Superchargers will include “Sunrisers” in their name. Sunrisers Leeds has also been suggested as a possible name instead of keeping “Northern.”
