
After selling 49% of their shares, London Spirit have made a big move by signing Mo Bobat, the former performance director of the England men’s team and the current director of cricket for IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Mo Bobat will take over as the new Director of Cricket for London Spirit. The club is now co-owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) – the oldest cricket club in history, which also runs Lord’s cricket ground and is the guardian of the game’s rules. MCC owns 51% of the team.
while the remaining 49% belongs to Tech Titans, a group of investors from Silicon Valley. The team’s name has stayed the same – London Spirit.
Bobat Happy to Join London Spirit
Bobat, who will continue to hold his position as Director of Cricket at RCB, said he was honoured to be associated with the Spirit.
"It's an honour to join London Spirit at such an exciting time. The opportunity to shape the cricketing future of this franchise, working with MCC and our new partners, the Tech Titans, is incredibly exciting. I'm looking forward to building something special - on and off the field."
Spirit are currently playing The Hundred 2025 and have won one and lost one game with their win coming against the Welsh Fire and the loss against the cross-city rivals Oval Invincibles in the London Derby, which was also the season opener.
