Fox on the Field! Unexpected Drama During Oval Invincibles vs London Spirit

The Hundred 2025 began on August 5 at Lord’s in London, but the opening match had an unusual moment. During the game between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles, a wild fox suddenly ran onto the field, stopping the match for a short while.

Animals wandering onto cricket grounds isn’t new, we’ve seen dogs, cats, and even snakes stop play in the past. But a fox showing up is something you don’t see every day. In fact, this might be the first time a fox has ever run onto the field during a professional cricket match.

Fox Runs Onto Field and Stops Play for a Moment

Oval Invincibles were chasing a small target of 81 set by London Spirit, with Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye batting. Just then, a fox came running in from outside the boundary at full speed.

The unexpected visitor dashed along the edge of the field, bringing the game to a brief stop. Players paused and smiled as they watched the fox make its quick run. A few moments later, it ran back off the field, leaving the crowd laughing and cheering in surprise.

Oval Invincibles Begin 2025 Hundred with Dominant Win Over London Spirit

Oval Invincibles made a strong start to their Men’s Hundred season with a big win over London Spirit in a completely one-sided London Derby. They chased down the small target with ease, winning by 6 wickets and still had 31 balls left. It was a smooth and confident performance from the visitors at Lord’s.

London Spirit had a rough outing right from the start. After winning the toss, Kane Williamson chose to bat, but his team couldn’t find any rhythm. Jennings went early for 5, followed by Williamson and Warner, both out for 9. Rashid Khan, playing his first game for Oval Invincibles, was brilliant with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs. Sam Curran also bowled well, finishing with 3/18. The Spirit batters never settled, with the highest partnership being just 17. In the end, they were bowled out for only 80, their lowest total in the tournament's history.

Chasing 81, the Invincibles made a solid start through Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye. Muyeye fell for 18, and there were a few small stumbles along the way, but the result was never really in doubt. Jacks scored a steady 24, Curran chipped in with 14, and Sam Billings and Donovan Ferreira finished things off, with Ferreira smashing a six to end the match in style. It was a confident and dominant win for the Invincibles to kick off their campaign.
