On Day 1 of the 2024-25 BGT 4th Test, Sam Konstas reached three key milestones with his fifty

In the Boxing Day Test at the MCG against India, 19-year-old Sam Konstas truly displayed his skills impressing fans and experts a lot. Konstas managed to shine especially since Australia's team coordinators made the daring choice to have him play in order to deal with Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah had been a major problem for Australia's openers in the past. Konstas had already hinted at his talent by scoring a hundred in a warm-up game and in his first Test, he really showed he was as good as people said.

Konstas went out there and proved his skills against Bumrah by scoring 18 runs off him in just one over. He even did an exceptionally wonderful reverse-scoop. His performance began Australia's turn at bat in a major way. With a total of 60 runs from 65 balls, including hitting the ball past the boundary six times and over it twice, he made the game very exciting. Konstas's bold moves from the start seemed to excite the whole team.

Milestones Achieved by Konstas

1. Second-Youngest Australian to Score a Test Fifty:

Konstas played an aggressive cricket and reached fifty runs in only 52 balls; this made him the second-youngest player from Australia to hit a fifty in a Test match, doing it when he was just 19 years and 85 days old. The youngest person to do this for Australia is Ian Craig, who scored fifty runs at 17 years and 239 days in 1953.

2. Most Runs Against Bumrah in His Opening Spell:

Facing Jasprit Bumrah when he was at his best was tough for most batters but Konstas made it seem effortless. Bumrah, having gotten 21 wickets in the series already, struggled to find a way to stop Konstas. Konstas obtained 34 runs off Bumrah's initial six overs, a record for the most runs anybody had against Bumrah's starting spell. He lifted him and even hit shots over Bumrah's head making him confused.

3. First Batter to Hit Bumrah for a Six in 28 Tests:

Konstas did something very amazing by being the first person in four years to score a six against Jasprit Bumrah. He hit a delivery significantly over long-on for six improving his first match even more. Nobody had hit a six off Bumrah in 28 tests, which is unexpected because that's 4,484 balls without anyone managing to do that.
