"This is Test Cricket!": Rohit Sharma’s Stern Words for Yashasvi Jaiswal at MCG

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 finally got underway on Thursday, December 26, with a lot of excitement. Australia chose to bat first and started well. Openers Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas made a rapid 89 runs. Konstas, playing his first Test match at the age of 19 stunned everyone with 60 runs off 65 balls, with six boundaries and two sixes.

At 230/2, with Labuschagne and Steve Smith building an important partnership for Australia, it seemed in control. But the moment changed with one man changing the situation. Jasprit Bumrah started off a reverse Indian script. His three successive wickets caught the eye of everyone Travis Head was dismissed by him on duck again.

A notable incident was witnessed when Ravindra Jadeja was bowling after tea. As Steve Smith pushed the fuller delivery onto his front foot, Yashasvi Jaiswal, stationed at silly point, reached out like making a dash for the huge shot.

This was noticed by India's captain, Rohit Sharma was positioned in the slips. He was not pleased with the actions of Jaiswal and had a go at him saying, "Are you playing gully cricket? Stay low until the ball is played. Don't stand up before the shot is made!"

At stumps on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test, Australia at 311/6 after 86 overs. Steve Smith unbeaten on 68 off 111 balls, looking like a man of great resilience. Pat Cummins is at the crease with 8 runs from 17 deliveries. Jasprit Bumrah has led the Indian bowling effort so far, taking the day out with good figures of 3/75 from 21 overs.
