Travis Head once again showed how much he loved to score runs against India during Day 2 of the second test of the Border Gavaskar trophy; he scored a magnificent 140 runs off 141 balls, hitting 17 boundaries and four sixes.
With Australia 86-1 on the stumps of day 1, the second day started with Labuschagne and McSweeney from Australia’s side. After a few early wickets in the morning, their partnership stabilised the innings when they came to bat. With his aggressive batting, Head played with a strike rate of 100 before getting out at 140.
He handled Bumrah's pressure well, especially after the team lost a few early wickets. At first, he played it safe and showed much respect during Bumrah's spell. But once Bumrah finished, he showed aggression and started batting freely.
He showed proper planning during the innings, and when the new ball was near, Travis accelerated his innings to score more runs before the new ball came into play; between the 50th and 82nd over, the team scored a total of 167 runs out of which the 119 runs were scored by Head, showing his great sense of the situation. These fast runs became even more critical when he got out just after an over when the new ball was taken; after his wicket, the team didn't last for too long, getting all out within eight overs of the new ball and only scoring 27 runs after his departure.
While he loves to score against India, it's not less than a nightmare for India to see him score against them in every important match.
Last Year, in the ICC Cricket World Final, his outstanding century single-handedly took the World Cup from India. That inning broke the hearts of a billion Indians and their dream of winning the World Cup after 12 years.
Before that, in the ICC Test Championship final in the same year, he scored a magnificent 163 runs, which also played a significant role in helping Australia win the title. And in this Pink Ball test, he is no less than a nightmare for India with his aggressive batting. During the last match, he also scored crucial 89 runs, but the team lost the match.
While India is his favourite opponent, the pink ball has also emerged as a format he likes. It was his third century with the pink ball. His abilities to adapt to the conditions and format, combined with his explosive batting, created trouble for three opponents. It Was his third consecutive century in pink ball tests.
He also created a unique record with this inning. He became the only player with a hundred against India in white, red, and pink balls. Interestingly, he has the same record against England.
