Akash Deep Injury Update: KKR Pacer Set to Miss IND vs AFG Test After IPL Setback

Kolkata Knight Riders had issues before the start of IPL 2026. Matheesha Pathirana arrived late, while Harshit Rana and Akash Deep had to miss IPL due to their respective injuries. While Rana was spotted limping with crutches, Akash Deep's injury was initially unclear. But it was eventually determined that it was his back Injury.

As for updates, Akash Deep will be sidelined for 3 - 4 months as he aims to return during the 2026 Duleep Trophy. Therefore, he will miss India's upcoming Test against Afghanistan on June 6th. Back injury is quite common among fast bowlers. Moreover, Akash Deep has long been troubled by back issues.

He faced similar problems last year when he was playing for Lucknow Super Giants. He performed well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but had to miss the final match because of an injury. After that, in England, he played three matches and took 13 wickets but got injured again.
