Nat Sciver-Brunt Appointed Captain of England Women's Cricket Team Across All Formats

Nat Sciver-Brunt Appointed Captain of England Women's Cricket Team Across All FormatsAll-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt has officially been appointed the new leader of the England women's cricket team across all three formats under recently appointed head coach Charlotte Edwards. Sciver-Brunt succeeds former captain Heather Knight, who resigned following England’s dismal Women’s Ashes campaign in Australia.

Nat Sciver-Brunt, regarded as one of the most talented cricketers, served as deputy to Heather Knight throughout her nine-year stint as skipper. Sciver-Brunt has prior leadership experience, having led the side during their underwhelming finish in the bronze-medal clash at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Nat Sciver-Brunt said she’s proud to take on the role of captain for the England Women’s cricket team. She spoke about how committed she is to supporting the team in every way she can and promised to give it her all to help lead them to success.

“I’m really proud to take on the role of captain of the England Women’s team, and it’s an honour to have been asked by Charlotte someone I’ve always looked up to. Ever since I made my England debut back in 2013, all I’ve wanted to do is help the team in any way I can. I’ll try my best to lead this team to success, while also empowering the players to be the best version of themselves,” Sciver-Brunt said.

England’s Upcoming Series: West Indies and India to Face Off

Nat Sciver-Brunt made her England debut in 2013 and has won several major awards, including ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year in 2022 and 2023. She was also named PCA Women's Player of the Year in 2017 and 2022 and was picked in the ICC Women's ODI and T20 Teams of the Year in 2023. After spending the last three years as vice-captain, she will now team up again with Charlotte Edwards, her coach during a successful WPL season with Mumbai Indians. Sciver-Brunt is currently ranked third in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

England Women will begin their 2025 home summer season on May 21 with a series against the West Indies, featuring three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is. After that, they will host India for a series that includes five T20Is and three ODIs.
