England Women Skip County Matches for Army Training Ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

England will try out something different ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Rather than focusing on cricket practice sessions, the team has opted to engage in several days of practice alongside the British army. It is meant more to build up mental strength than physical.

England Women Focus on Mental Strength Ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

According to reports on Wisden, the entire squad of 15 players has been pulled out of the One-Day Cup games on May 2 to attend to this camp. Thus, they will miss games in order to sharpen their mentality. The camp will ensure that players remain cool under pressure, make sound judgment calls, and face up to difficult situations as in a game setting.

Clare Connor, the managing director, emphasized that this camp is all about putting players under a challenging environment whereby they test their mental and physical capabilities. England aims at ensuring that players are mentally strong.

Managing director of the England Women’s cricket team, Connor, said that,

“We have been working with the British Army over recent months to create a leadership programme for the World Cup Squad. The various elements of the programme will focus on decision-making, resilience and delivering high performance when the pressure is turned up.“

“We are extremely lucky to be able to send our newly selected World Cup Squad into one of the best high-performance environments in the world. I’m confident that what the players will experience and learn over the next few days will be priceless when it comes to performing in some of the pressure moments that a home World Cup will undoubtedly bring.”
