Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna Shine in ICC Test Rankings After Stunning Performance
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna reached their career-best ratings in the latest ICC Test bowling rankings, with Siraj at 674 points and Krishna at 368 points. Together, they took 17 of the 19 wickets that fell in the India vs England 5th Test playing a key role in one of India’s most memorable overseas victories at the Oval.
Both Siraj and Prasidh Krishna had faced some criticism earlier in the series but stepped up when it counted. Siraj, with his 5-wicket haul in the second innings and 9 wickets in total jumped 12 spots to break into the ICC top 15 for the first time in his career. Prasidh was ranked 94 before the series, had moved up to 84 after taking 6 wickets in the first two Tests. Thanks to his two 4-wicket hauls in the final Test, he climbed 25 spots to reach 59th in the rankings. He will be aiming to climb even higher in the rankings when India tours the Caribbean for a two-match Test series against the West Indies starting on October 2.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah remained the world’s number one Test bowler with 889 rating points, even though he didn’t play in the fifth Test.
Rishabh Pant Retains 8th Spot in ICC Rankings Despite Injury
Yashasvi Jaiswal has made it to the top 5 in the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time, thanks to his century at the Oval. After struggling in the 3rd and 4th Tests, he had dropped down the rankings. Even though this isn’t his best rating, it’s the first time he’s cracked the top 5.
Shubman Gill, on the other hand slipped four spots to 13th after failing in both innings. Rishabh Pant stayed in 8th place, despite missing the match due to his foot injury. Washington Sundar moved up four places to 61st after his explosive half-century and Dhruv Jurel climbed two spots to 87th.
For England, both Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue moved up in the Test bowler rankings. Atkinson entered the top 10 with 766 rating points matching Australia’s Mitchell Starc. Tongue jumped 14 spots to 46th after taking 8 wickets in the Oval Test.
