England's Harry Brook has soared to the top of the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings as of July 6, 2025. His remarkable performances in the first two Tests against India propelled him to this position. Brook scored 99 runs at Headingley and followed it up with 158 and 23 in the two innings at Edgbaston.

He now holds 886 rating points, placing him 18 points ahead of his compatriot Joe Root, who has slipped to second place after a six-month reign at the top. Brook had previously held the No. 1 spot until December 2024, when Root overtook him.

Other notable climbers in the rankings include India’s Test captain Shubman Gill, who leaped to sixth position after his record-breaking double-century and century in the second Test against England. These outstanding innings earned him a career-best ranking and a personal best rating of 807 points.
