Kusal Perera and Mohamed Shiraz Back in Sri Lanka Squad for New Zealand ODIs

Kusal Perera and Mohamed Shiraz Back in Sri Lanka Squad for New Zealand ODIs

Kusal Perera, who hasn't played an ODI in nearly a year, earns a spot in the squad following his impressive 55 not out in a T20I against West Indies. Meanwhile, Mohamed Shiraz, a standout performer in domestic cricket with 84 List A wickets at 18.75, is set to make his mark in international cricket after bowling only four overs so far.

Sri Lanka sticks with the same T20I squad that triumphed over West Indies 2-1, with allrounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe securing his position in both formats. Dinesh Chandimal retains his spot in the T20I squad despite not featuring in international white-ball cricket since 2022, showcasing his form in domestic leagues.

The core of Sri Lanka's batting lineup remains consistent, with the likes of Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa integral to both T20Is and ODIs. The spin department is well-covered by Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Dunith Wellalage.

In seam bowling, Sri Lanka opts for a mix in the two formats, with Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, and Binura Fernando in the T20I squad, while Dilshan Madushanka, Shiraz, and Asitha Fernando make the cut for ODIs.
