Kane Richardson, a fast bowler from Australia has retired from professional cricket at 34. Representing Australia, Richardson played in 25 ODIs and 36 T20Is, and was part of Australia's 2021 T20 World Cup winning team. Richardson made his domestic debut in the Northern Territory and South Australia and had a List A debut during the 2008-09 season and then his international debut with an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2013.

Richardson had a successful career at the Big Bash League (BBL), where he is one of the few players who has played in all the editions. He played with the Adelaide Strikers for six seasons and then moved to the Melbourne Renegades for eight seasons, before signing a one-year contract with the Sydney Sixers before the 2025-26 season.

Kane Richardson Announces Retirement from Professional Cricket

Richardson finished his BBL career as the fifth highest wicket taker, with a total of 142 wickets, and also played for franchises around the world in various tournaments, including the Indian Premier League (IPL).

 

"From making my debut back in 2009 until now, I feel like I have squeezed every drop out of myself and it is the right time to finish such an enjoyable part of my life," a statement from Richardson read.

"I've been fortunate enough to represent my country, along with many franchise teams around the world, and in Australia. I have never taken the opportunity lightly and I hope people watching knew that I had dreamt about being a cricketer since I was a kid in Darwin," it read further.
