Delhi Capitals Plan Fresh Start with Samson–Rahul Swap Deal

KL Rahul, who was signed by Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crores in the mega-auction, had an impressive season, scoring over 500 runs, including a century. He also showed flexibility by batting in different positions as needed. According to recent reports, this trade between Samson and Rahul could be one of the biggest in IPL history. Both players have been consistent performers over the years and are among the top names in Indian cricket.

Although Delhi had brought in Rahul, the team handed the captaincy to Axar Patel, their highest-paid retained player. Axar started well as captain, helping the team win a few early matches. But as the season went on, both his form and the team’s performance declined. The Capitals lost several close games and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot.

With a disappointing season behind them, the franchise is now looking for a fresh start and strong leadership. Sanju Samson, who has successfully led the Royals to two playoffs and the 2022 final, could be the perfect choice to lead Delhi in the new season.
